Great Verses for Monday

"No one can serve two masters. The person will hate one master and love the other, or will follow one master and refuse to follow the other. You cannot serve both God and worldly riches." Matthew 6:24

"If I could speak all the languages of earth and of angels, but didn't love others, I would only be a noisy gong or a clanging cymbal. If I had the gift of prophecy, and if I understood all of God's secret plans and possessed all knowledge, and if I had such faith that I could move mountains, but didn't love others, I would be nothing. If I gave everything I have to the poor and even sacrificed my body, I could boast about it; but if I didn't love others, I would have gained nothing." 1 Corinthians 13:1-3

"Don't be concerned about the outward beauty of fancy hairstyles, expensive jewelry, or beautiful clothes. You should clothe yourselves instead with the beauty that comes from within, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is so precious to God." 1 Peter 3:3-4

"I pray also that the eyes of your heart may be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which He has called you, the riches of His glorious inheritance in the saints, and His incomparably great power for us who believe. That power is like the working of His mighty strength." Ephesians 1:18-19

Striking Similarities

I LOVE my little nephew so very much!!! It's always fun to see my sister put up new pictures of him as he gets older on her blog!!! I think he does a lot of the same facial expressions that I did when I was his age. This picture of me was taken at my second birthday party back in the day. I remember the Snoopy theme. Neil will be two years old in April! Look at these two pictures! Seriously...we both are looking to the side with our mouths open kinda like we are staring off into space or something. I still do this expression sometimes not even thinking about it. LOL!

Great Verses for Wednesday!

"You will also be a crown of beauty in the hand of the Lord, and a royal diadem in the hand of your God."-- Isaiah 62:3

"Don't fuss about what's on the table at mealtimes or if the clothes in your closet are in fashion. There is far more to your inner life than the food you put in your stomach, more to your outer appearance than the clothes you hang on your body. Look at the ravens, free and unfettered, not tied down to a job description, carefree in the care of God. And you count far more."--
Luke 12: 22-24

"Don't love money; be satisfied with what you have. For God has said, "I will never fail you. I will never abandon you."-- Hebrews 13:5

"Guard you heart above all else, for it determines the course of your life."-- Proverbs 4:23

"May the Lord direct your hearts into the love of God and into the steadfastness of Christ."--
2 Thessalonians 3:5

Hike at Dismal Canyons

Yesterday my hubby and I went to Dismal Canyons which wasn't that bad of a drive for us. It was cool beautiful weather and we went during the "golden" time of day when the sun hits everything so pretty and it casts that beautiful golden hue on everything. By the way, that is my favorite time of day (end of afternoon beginning of evening). This place had so many waterfalls and streams and bridges! The only thing I missed was the trees weren't at their peak in color...they are pretty much still green or have brown dead leaves. I heard that in this part of the country if you don't get a lot of rain before Fall, the leaves won't change color that much...however, if you get a bunch of rain they will be the most vibrant of all colors! This year we had almost a drought...it was dry as a bone! I have a feeling I will be missing my beautiful Fall foliage. :( Here are some picture of our little trip to Dismal Canyons. By the way, we took Bunni with us! She had a blast!

Things God Won't Ask You On That Day

I got this forward in an email today from a friend of mine. I thought it was truly amazing and so true!!! This life is so short and what the world thinks as "important" really isn't!!! It doesn't matter about our job status, the in-style clothes we wear, the cars we drive, the income we make!!! What matters is that we live our lives to glorify Jesus!!!

1. God won't ask you what kind of car you drove, He'll ask how many people you drove who didn't have transportation.

2. God won't ask the square footage of your house, He'll ask how many people you welcomed into your home.

3. God won't ask about all the clothes in your closet, He'll ask how many poor people you clothed.

4. God won't ask what your highest salary was, He'll ask if you compromised your character to obtain it.

5. God won't ask you what your job title was, He'll ask you if you performed your job to the best of your ability.

6. God won't ask what kind of neighborhood you lived it, He'll ask how you treated your neighbors.

7. God won't ask about the color of your skin, He'll ask about the content of your character.

8. God won't ask how many friends you had, He'll ask how many people to whom you were a friend.

9. God won't ask why it took you so long to seek salvation, He'll lovingly take you to your mansion in Heaven and not the gates of hell.
